Edward Lay Yong Shun (IT Year 3) beat competitiors from other parts of the world in his mastery of the ubiquitous Microsoft Office application at the Microsoft Office Academic Skills Challenge International 2006 held in Orlando, Florida, USA.
Earlier, Edward took the national championship at the Microsoft Office Academic Skills Challenge 2006 and went on to represent Singapore at this annual international meet.
Two years back, ICTian Lee Chee Yuen also took the world championship in MS Word in 2004, held in Shanghai, China.
Coaches Ismail Ahmed Fulu (ICT lecturer, originally from the Maldives) and Sangar s/o Annadorai (ICT class of 2006) were all smiles. Asked about the secret for training world beaters, they blushed and said: "You should ask Edward."
