Previous school, regional, country and Worldwide Champions can compete in the 2012's qualifying and final competition ONLY if they are competing in a different exam and exam version. For example, if a student placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd in their regional, country or at the Worldwide Finals in Microsoft Excel® 2010, they can participate this year in any exam EXCEPT Microsoft Excel® 2010.

Beginning from 1 November 2011 to 15 May 2012, each individual academic institution or group of academic institutions may conduct their own qualifying rounds to qualify for the 2012 Singapore Microsoft Office Academic Skills Challenge National Finals.
Instituations that have administrative or technical constrains to conduct their qualifying rounds within their institutions may register with us for the Combined Qualification Round by 15 March 2012. This will be held in Nanyang Polytechnic, School of IT, from 2 April 2012 to 4 April 2012.
The top 20% of the student participants will be qualified for the National Finals. All perfect scorers will automatically advances to the National Finals.
The Pre-Tertiary participates will compete in the PowerPoint® National Finals, while Tertiary participants will compete in the Excel National Finals. As for the Word National Finals, we will see all the qualified finalists, both Pre-Tertiary and Tertiary, competing for their place to represent Singapore.
A participant can choose to participate in MULTIPLE Exam tracks. For example, they can submit an Excel 2010 and Word 2010 Exam or PowerPoint 2010 and Word 2010 Exam. However, if they qualify to participate in a Worldwide Competition in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, they can only compete in only ONE Exam track. The organiser retains the right to disqualify students for appropriate cause.

The participating fee for each categories will be at $75.00 for per exam taken. This participating fee is for taking an actual Microsoft Office Certification exam. The fee listed above is only applicable for the participants in the Competition. The usual exam fee for Microsoft Office Specialist Exam 2010 is $155.00.
For the purposes of the Competition, Certiport Singapore is subsidising the difference in the exam fee from the usual fee. Participating fee is non-negotiable and non-refundable. You may want to check with your school if EduSave can be used.
While the competition is targeting at the students, educators are also an important group. Besides students, we believe educators will need to be certified as well, in this valuable Microsoft Office Specialist Certification. Being certified in the Microsoft Office Specialist Certification means that you are able to perform the tasks necessary in Microsoft Office in a more effective and efficient way.
