2010 Singapore Microsoft Office Academic Skills Challenge

Rules and Regulations

  1. To participate, you must be a registered student (between 1 January and 8 August 2010) with an accredited academic institution (either in Primary, Secondary, Technical, Junior College, Centralised Institute, Polytechnic, University or private institution) with the Ministry of Education in Singapore.
  2. For those who are currently waiting for results but hold a valid student IDs (between 1 January and 8 August 2010) are eligible to participate.
  3. For those who are currently enlisted and serving National Service Full-Time (NSF) are eligible to participate. Those who have signed-on as Regular will not be eligible. Permissions from the Ministry of Defence, or your unit’s HQ, whichever has the authority, must be granted before participating. Certiport Singapore and Singapore Computer Society are not responsible if the participants are not granted leave due to certain necessary approval process required to participate or notification by MINDEF or the unit’s HQ.
  4. Foreign students who are enrolled in accredited academic institutions (with valid student IDs between 1 January and 8 August 2010) in Singapore are eligible to participate, with an understanding that should they be the winners of the National Finals and be sponsored to compete at the 2010 Worldwide Competition on Microsoft Office in Utah, USA, they will be representing Singapore and not the country of their nationality, birth, residence or otherwise.
  5. Previous National Winners who represented Singapore at either the Regional or Worldwide competition will not be eligible to participate in the same category of the competition.
  6. Each participating fee paid is the actual fee for taking each Microsoft Office Specialist certification exam or Microsoft Certified Application Specialist certification exam. Failure to pay the participating fee plus the appropriate GST may result in disqualification of the exam score and/or the participant. No refund will be entertained.
  7. Each participant must be the qualified finalist to proceed to the National Finals.
  8. To be qualified, each participant must at least meet the standard minimum passing mark of the particular exam taken, followed by the highest mark, then the quickest time in the even of a tie in mark.
  9. If the participant achieved the highest mark (or the quickest time in the even of a tie) among all the participants, but did not meet the standard minimum passing mark for the particular exam, then the participant would be disqualified by default.
  10. It is a requirement for all the National winners to attend and represent Singapore at the 2010 Worldwide Competition on Microsoft Office presented by Certiport in Utah, USA.
  11. Should any of the National winners unable to fulfill the role (due to whatsoever reasons), the next in-line (first runner-up) will take over the National representative’s role. Should this occur, the then National winner will vacate the placing of the said title and return all prizes received and pass on to the next in-line.
  12. For those deemed underage must seek their parental guidance and consent.
  13. Certification exam re-take policy applies. Failure to comply with the re-take policy would be subject to disqualification.
  14. Microsoft, Certiport, Certiport Singapore and Singapore Computer Society reserved the rights to substitute any prizes. All prizes cannot be exchanged for cash.
  15. The Rules and Regulations of the Competition must be in compliance with the Rules and Regulations set forth by Certiport, Inc.
  16. Microsoft, Certiport, Certiport Singapore and Singapore Computer Society reserved the rights to alter, amend, change and modify the Rules and Regulations without prior notice.
  17. Microsoft, Certiport, Certiport Singapore and/or Singapore Computer Society shall not be held responsible for any loss or damage whatsoever suffered (including but not limited to direct or consequential loss) or personal injury suffered in connection with any prizes offered.
